It was the first song we ever wrote as monocene. Written in the aftermath of a deep personal crisis, “Follow the Sun” is a reflection on pain, healing, and the quiet strength it takes to find your way back to life.
The track explores themes of faith, doubt, and the inner conflict that comes with questioning everything, including the role of religion in times of despair. Yet, at its core, it’s a song about hope, about the invisible hand that helps you climb out of the deepest valleys.
Driven by powerful guitars and an anthemic spirit, monocene combine emotional vulnerability with sonic strength. This song is a message: you are not alone, and it’s always possible to begin again.

Monocene is a croatian/german alternative rock band formed in the winter of 2023. The band consists of singer & guitarist Joerg Grote, Igor Zimic on bass & backing vocals and Stjepan Vukušić playing the drums, all experienced musicians in their 30s and 40s. With a sound influenced by rock, grunge and alternative of the late 90s and early 2000s, monocene brings a fresh perspective to the genre with their introspective lyrics and dynamic musical compositions.
